Sandalman Sandals
Sandalman Sandals are unique in that they are made to order only. We carry no stock. You have to come in, in person, choose a style and have your feet drawn and measured.
After this first fitting, depending on style, we need one or two more short fittings after which you can wear your sandals out of the shop. Part of your final fitting you will learn to care for your sandals so that you can come in 20 years from now and tell us how many countries they have been in.
Sandalman uses only top grade paraffin impregnated latigo uppers and straps. This leather is almost waterproof and with proper and ongoing oiling of the leather, your pair will easily last long past the five year guarantee.
Five Year Guarantee: The final fitting will see you wearing your sandals out of the shop after being instructed (your hands on) on proper care (oiling & cleaning) of your sandals. If anything breaks within 5 years repairs are free.
Conditions:
1) You must oil your sandals on a consistent basis. If anything breaks due to lack of care, the guarantee is null and void.
2) Salt water will destroy any leather, therefore there is no guarantee against salt damage. You can go in the ocean with them but you must clean and oil. The Sandalman knows the difference.
Soles will wear out and are not guaranteed but all soles are glued on and are replaceable.
Colours: You can choose from black, brown, burgundy or golden yellow. Oil will darken your sandals each time you oil them so, for instance, the golden yellow will mellow to a dark chocolate over time. All colours look good.
Timeline: depending on how busy the Sandalman is you could have your sandals in two days or two weeks. The Sandalman works to your schedule.
You may choose between two main styles:
1) LORD (LADY) OF THE RINGS

Men’s band is 2”. The Ladies band is 1 5/8” thick. This style was taught to me by Davy Rippner, Leathersmithe. Sandalman made his first pair in 1976, the day before Leathersmithe left Victoria, not returning till 2008. Since that time Sandalman has made over 3000 pair of this style. Good looking, Comfortable and Secure!! This style needs 3 fittings. Straps are adjustable. $250.00.
2) DEBORAH ADJUSTABLE STRAP.
This Style requires only two fittings; a first fitting where we draw and measure your feet (5 minutes) and a final fitting where we adjust the strap length and show you our care and maintenance technique (1/2 hour). All straps are adjustable. Price: $250.00
OR
2) Sandalman also makes his own Huarache style. You may choose between a ½ inch woven four braid or a ¼ inch woven eight braid, as in the picture. This style requires 3 fittings. 1st fitting takes 5 minutes. 2nd fitting takes 10 minutes. Final fitting takes 30 minutes and includes oiling of sandals. Price: $300.00

The Sandalman has made over 5300 pair of custom sandals. He mostly wears the Lord of the Rings style but has worn and loves them all.
Sandalman also loves bag design. Belt pouches, bags and purses are unique, no two exactly the same. Keith practices Progressive Leather Experiment (thanks Barry!).
