Made with love in Denmark by the Glerup family, these cozy felt wool slippers will warm your family members hearts too.
Glerups are an exciting product from the Scandinavian land of warm and fuzzies, a.k.a. Denmark. We love the vibrant, earthy, woolly tones that they’re available in. But what are they exactly? It’s a sock, it’s a shoe, it’s a combination of both that is ready for indoors and outdoor use and abuse.
Made from 100% wool, the makers of Glerups actually encourage users not to wear socks with them, exploiting the natural fibre’s natural self-cleaning attributes and their ability to keep warm even when damp, five times warmer than any other fabric even.
Glerups come in three styles, the slip-on, the shoe and the pull on ankle boot. All models are lined with calfskin soles, (some models come with rubber soles) that provide whisper soft steps, and come in a wide variety of colours. Perfect for our west coast lifestyle and cool damp evenings.
You know you love socks, well so do most people on your list. Come see us for your stocking stuffers, sock exchange or even outfit your team for sock wars at your workplace.
Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, and renowned for making products in the USA from fabrics such as heavyweight Tin Cloth and warm Mackinaw Wool, our company stands for the highest quality and most durable apparel and accessories available.-filson.com
A bit of history...
After spending a summer hitchhiking down the west coast and witnessing the 1960s Social Revolution first hand, John returned to his hometown of Vancouver and began working for Sheppard’s Shoes. In 1970, he joined forces with fellow co-worker Peter Fox to start up their own shoe store in historic Gastown. The partnership, known simply as Fox and Fluevog, lasted over ten years at which time the two split amicably, leaving John to open the first John Fluevog Shoes in downtown Vancouver.-fluevog.com
Officially designed for the exploration of Finland, The Kiitos is a shoe that will walk you through Helsinki’s sights from day to night (even when the sun doesn’t set). Get lost in endless days without the slightest foot ache in these gorgeous gusset style shoes – made with aniline leather, 2” heels, and mix-toned elastic sides. John’s never managed to master Finnish but, like a true Canadian, he always memorizes the word for “thank you”. Wherever you go, give thanks.
John’s imagination often takes him into the past – a simpler time, when you knew all the ingredients in your food, vehicles had their own four legs, and your neighbo(u)rs knew you by name. The Mezzo Family embraces that vintage feel with The Cecilia; a well-made boot built with gorgeous napa and soft, matte Portuguese leathers. The 2.25" heel is similar to The Operetta Family, just a pinch higher, and the boot itself has a gorgeous inside zipper to hide that incredibly suggestive ankle of yours. -fluevog.com
True to his Canadian roots, John broadcasts a unisexy chelsea boot in the Radio family, making the slip-on Radio RCI boot the hippest international ankle boot out there. Using dusty Atlas leathers on the same hip-cat turned up toe, and using a narrow Women's last, makes the RCI a classic, vintage working boot that is taking the international airwaves by storm. In 21 different languages, and with it's walkable tunite soles with a resoleable soft rubber topy, the RCI speaks of comfort and style to all the unique souls around the world. Tune in, Turn on, and Vog out! -fluevog.com
On November 8th, 1946 beauty school & salon owner Viola Desmond was arrested for sitting in the white-patron only seating in the segregated Roseland Theatre in Nova Scotia. Viola was forcibly removed from the theatre, jailed overnight, and convicted of tax evasion for not paying the one cent difference for the black seating in the balcony. Viola contested the court decisions and after the Nova Scotian court upheld the decision against her, Viola closed her beauty shop and eventually moved out of Canada. Viola's courageous protest was the first significant step in equal rights for all, and helped spark The Canadian Civil Rights Movement.
We celebrate and honour Viola by naming this striking and confident pump after her - a pump that will walk with you throughout the day and into the night. With options of shiny metallics, glossy patents, supple floral patterns, painted bovine hair leathers, or supersaturated waxy canvas uppers built on foot molding leather soles, The Desmond Pump uses modern materials on a classic style. John gave the super-pointed Big Presence last a little lift with a diamond shaped 2.75" canvas wrapped heel with swooping curves, giving this simple pump an unusually distinctive profile. If you put the Desmond pumps sole-to-sole, and heel-to-heel, John leaves you with a lasting impression straight from his heart. Present yourself well. -fluevog.com
